Devon Bergman

Board Member

Devon Bergman started his drum corps career with the Division II corps, The Jersey Surf of Camden County, NJ where he marched in the quad line from 1998-2001. Later he returned to teach during 2007-2009 seasons where they won Open Class High Percussion (2007) and made their World Class debut (2009). Devon is also the President & Chairman of the Board of the Percussion Independent World WGI ensemble, Rhythm X.

Chris Hartowicz

Board Member

has been involved with The Cavaliers since 1967. His roles have included marching member of the color guard (1969-1977), Color Guard Sergeant (1977), Cavalier of the Year (1977), guard instructor (1978), Cavalier parent (2002 - 2005), President of the Cavalier Alumni Association (2007-2010), Director of CAC888 (2008), and served on the Board of Directors since 2012 and became President of CAPE in 2016. He also has chaired the Executive Committee.

Ellen Huxtable

Board Member

Ellen Huxtable is a Chicago area parent of FMM, Nathan Huxtable, and has been a consistent volunteer and supporter of The Cavaliers. Ellen joined the CAPE Board of Directors in 2017 and now serves as Board Secretary, member of the Executive Committee and chair of the Governance Committee and has chaired the Organizational Culture Committee.

Graeme Mason

Board Member

Graeme Mason was a member of The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps, from 2000 to 2003. He marched 1st baritone with the Corps when it won 3 World Championships and its first Jim Ott Award in Best Brass. He had an amazing opportunity to march four summers with such a talented corps. He also got to learn from world-class teachers and staff. “Without the experience I had in The Cavaliers, I wouldn’t be where I am today in my career.” Graeme joined the CAPE board of directors in 2021 and is part of the Governance Committee.

Scott McCormick

Board Member

Scott McCormick was born with some “green blood” in his veins: his father Larry McCormick is a former Cavaliers percussion instructor, designer, and DCI Hall of Fame recipient. Scott marched with The Cavaliers in 1976. He continued his music career through high school and college career at Elmhurst (IL) College and Northern Illinois University, taking the leadership role of Bands of America in 1984. He served as the organization’s President and CEO for 26 years from 1984-2010, during which time the organization grew exponentially, both in participation and financial support.

Ann Miller

Board Member

Anne Miller began her love of drum corps when the Bridgemen housed at her high school in NW Tennessee in the late 70's. She marched color guard in high school and at the University at Marten, TN. She has been a constant "boots on the ground" band parent and drum corps volunteer since 2012. Her son Andrew marched front ensemble with The Cavaliers from 2016- 2019.

Matt O'Brien

Board Member

Matt O'Brien is a Cavalier alumnus (1981) and was on the percussion staff of Cavalier Cadets from 1982-1984. He is a past-President of the Cavaliers Alumni Association and joined the CAPE   Board of Directors in 2012. He also serves as The Cavaliers’ representative on the DCI Board Consortium steering committee, facilitating the annual gathering of Board members from the various member corps.

Fernando Pullum

Fernando Pullum was a member of The Cavaliers mellophone section in 1975 and 1976 after starting his drum corps career as a member of the St. Andrew’s Hornets on the west side of Chicago. He joined the CAPE board of directors in 2020 and serves on the Organizational Culture Committee.

Matt Seltzer

Board Member

Matt Seltzer started playing clarinet and saxophone in middle school in Las Vegas, and later joined the marching band at Silverado High School. In college, he began learning baritone with the goal of marching in a drum corps, and eventually played euphonium with Pacific Crest in 2004 and the Blue Knights in 2005. In his new role with CAPE, Matt is ecstatic to bring his experience in marketing, market research, public relations and digital marketing to help the Cavaliers organization grow and thrive in the future.

Ric Talbut was involved with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps for 4 seasons, as a member of the color guard (1984-1986), and as a member of the guard staff in 1987. Ric joined the CAPE Board of Directors in 2021 and has served on and chaired the Governance Committee and Ethics & Compliance Committee.

Geoff Thursby

Board Member

Geoff Thursby began his Cavalier association as an 11-year-old member of Cavalier Cadets in 1974 playing soprano bugler.  An interest in piano and getting braces changes his aspirations to orchestra bells and he graduated to The Cavaliers in 1977 through 1981. Geoff was a member of the front ensemble for the 2008 CAC888 Anniversary Corps.  Geoff is the founder and presiding president of the Cavaliers Investment Club, and over the years has also been involved in the corps’ fitness programs during the winter camps. Geoff joined the CAPE Board of Directors in 2019 and is a member of the Finance Committee.
