“As part of The Cavaliers’ strategic growth initiatives, Chromium is helping breathe life into our organization’s plan to serve more students and develop leaders right here in the Chicagoland area,” said Joe Roach, Director of Programs.
During last year’s inaugural season, Chromium Winds went on to capture the 2017 Winter Guard International (WGI) Winds Independent Open Class championship with a score of 92.75. In its second season, CW will defend the Independent Open Class title under the returning leadership of Ensemble Director Andrew Zweibel and Business Director Greg Goeden.
“Last season was a strong introduction of Chromium Winds and our students to the entire activity. Now, we’re excited to see this ensemble grow and shine representing The Cavaliers in 2018,” added Roach.
Chromium’s 2018 production, “Spellbound” will take audiences on a dark and ritualistic journey as the summoned Voodoo Priest arrives; the Voodoo Doll manipulates; and the possessed performers fight back against the malicious and powerful spell.
The ensemble’s creative team and educational leadership includes Design Coordinator Christian Cruz-Vargas, Music Designer Key Poulan, Visual Designer and Caption Manager Kevin Nevsimal, Music Caption Manager Jeremy Stevens, Percussion and Electronics Designer Matt Hahn, and Choreographer Jordan Fandrey.
CW’s educational team also includes Zachary Smith, Ashley Miceli, DaJuan Brooks, Justin Johnson, Tom Benko, and consultant Bob Rada.
“2018 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Chromium Winds,” said Andrew Zweibel, CW’s Ensemble Director. “Our students and staff members are having a great time putting this production together, and we can't wait to share our progress with the world this competitive season”
Chromium Winds is proud to have the support of The Cavaliers’ strategic partners and suppliers, including Fred J Miller, Inc., Yamaha, Field and Floor FX, Innovative Percussion, Pageantry Innovations, Remo, Zildjian, and DSI.
