Dan Schmitt
Dan Schmitt is excited to return to The Cavaliers Audio Team for his fourth summer. An alumnus of the corps (2010), Dan is now in his 14th year as an audio engineer in the DCI (Drum Corps International) activity. Throughout his career, he has had the privilege of collaborating with countless Hall of Fame educators and designers. His experience spans over a decade of work with DCI finalist percussion sections as well as champions in DCI, WGI (Winter Guard International), and BOA (Bands of America).
Dan’s expertise includes a broad range of teaching philosophies, a keen ear for blending and balancing ensembles, electronic elements, and other creative audio challenges in the marching arts. He is grateful for the opportunity to give back to his home corps, he continues to work alongside some of the activity's greatest educators.
His current endeavors include audio consulting, designing, and adjudicating for marching ensembles across the country. Dan also serves as the Percussion Director at South Oldham High School in Crestwood, KY, where he maintains an active studio of private lesson students, and as the Lead Audio Engineer at Rhythm X. He resides in Louisville, KY, with his wife, Amanda, and their two dogs, Spud and Roux.
