Chromium Winds Now Under the Direction of Bobby Bonslater
With a new season nearly underway, Chromium Winds is thrilled to elevate Bobby Bonslater to the position of Director and Program Coordinator this season.
Residing in the Greater Chicago area, Bonslater is an Instrumental Learning Assistant at Chicago State University in Chicago, and he is the Percussion Instructor and Program Coordinator at Maine West High School in Des Plaines. Bonslater also creates and offers specialized school performing arts academies to expose young inner-city students to instrumental, choral, technology, and general music to better prepare them to be productive members of high school and college programs as well as their community ensembles. He has taught several DCI, DCA and WGI groups, including Racine Scouts, Americanos, East Coast Jazz, Madison Scouts, Kilties, Chops, Govenaires, Pacific Crest, Americanos Indoor, Pioneer Indoor, Chops Indoor Percussion, Eagan High School, and Phoenix Drumline. He is currently a Director and Program Coordinator at Sunrisers Drum and Bugle Corps of Long Island, NY.
Bonslater worked with Chromium Winds last season as a Sound Engineer, and is thrilled to return in 2024 in this elevated role. “My passion is to positively impact the youth in my community through pageantry and the marching arts, and I look forward to bringing more local students to Chromium” remarks Brooks. He adds “Chromium Winds has a solid foundation in place that I know we can build upon this season. Planning is underway and we know it’s going to be a special year for Chromium!”
