Bobby Bonslater

BOBBY BONSLATER is an educator, designer, and performer residing in Chicago, IL, where he offers specialized school performing arts academies. His mission is to expose young inner-city students to instrumental, choral, technology, and general music to better prepare them to be productive members of high school and college programs as well as their community ensembles. He is an Instrumental Learning Assistant at Chicago State University in Chicago. Bobby is also the Percussion Instructor and Program Coordinator for Maine West High School of Des Plaines, IL.

Bobby has had the pleasure of performing with and teaching many DCI and DCA Drum and Bugle Corps, including Racine Scouts, Americanos, East Coast Jazz, Madison Scouts, Kilties, Chops, Govenaires, and Pacific Crest. His WGI experience includes Americanos Indoor, Pioneer Indoor, Chops Indoor Percussion, Eagan High School, and Phoenix Drumline. He is currently a Director and Program Coordinator at Sunrisers Drum and Bugle Corps of Long Island, NY.

Bobby is an active performing member of the Chicago Bears Drumline and the Madison Scouts All-Star Brass Ensemble. He has recently been awarded Superior Ratings and top honors for WGI’s 2020 and 2021 Solo and Ensemble for both Trumpet and Clarinet in the 19+ category.

Bobby is excited to continue with Chromium Winds in his new role as Ensemble Director and Program Coordinator which will allow him to share his love for music and pageantry arts while positively influencing the youth within the community. He looks forward to continuing to build upon Chromium’s foundations of success while providing a quality experience for returning and new members of Chromium Winds.
