ROSEMONT, IL – While The Cavaliers brass and percussion members head to Adrian, Michigan this May for the start of Spring Training, the color guard is set to kick off 2024 with an exciting detour: a week-long dance intensive at The Big Muddy Dance Company in St. Louis.

Color guard members will begin the week by attending Big Muddy’s highly anticipated spring concert, “Identity. The show will feature world premieres from two renowned, award-winning artistic and cultural trailblazers: Tommie-Waheed Evans, and Omar Román de Jesús. They will then spend a week immersing themselves in an array of dance disciplines, including ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, Horton modern, and more, with seasoned professional dancers providing instruction and feedback. They will complement their dance instruction with classes in yoga, pilates, and choreography. Their week will culminate in a 7-minute choreographed dance performance for dance company members as well as the St. Louis community. This rare ensemble of 40 male dancers is expected to draw a large crowd and make a community impact.

"We are thrilled to provide our 2024 color guard members with this once in a lifetime opportunity," remarked John Leonard, Color Guard Designer and Caption Head. "We can’t wait to show audiences how we plan to incorporate this variety of techniques and styles into our 2024 production."

There are still a very limited number of open spots in the 2024 Cavaliers color guard. To learn more or register to audition, visit cavaliers.org/auditions.
