FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(ROSEMONT, ILLINOIS) – The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps, sponsored by the Village of Rosemont, Illinois, is actively recruiting for the upcoming 2019 season that will bring this 7-time Drum Corps International (DCI) World Champion to California for the first time in over a decade.

“We’re searching for talented performers and dedicated student leaders to build the 71st edition of the 'Green Machine,'” said Chris Lugo, Executive Director of The Cavaliers. “Kicking off the DCI competitive season in California will be an exciting start to what’s shaping up to be a special coast-to-coast summer tour.”

Dallas / Ft. Worth, Chicago, and Japan will serve as The Cavaliers' live Audition Experience locations for prospective brass, color guard, and percussion students, while the Video audition is a popular choice for those who are unable to attend a live event.

“If you’re interested in the DCI and Cavalier experience for 2019 or in the near future, challenge yourself to step up and attend one of our Audition Experience events,” Lugo added.

“Our live auditions are a great opportunity to gauge your individual performance development, interact with our world-class team of educators, and learn more about the people and the mission of this nonprofit performing arts organization.”

The Cavaliers’ returning design team will once again be lead by program coordinator David McGrath, with the full design and caption leadership team announcement to be released in the coming weeks.

“Our creative force is back at it again, and our educational teams are well positioned to continue delivering the exceptional member training experience that has been the hallmark of this organization,” said Lugo.

STUDENT AND WORKPLACE SAFETY

In the year ahead, the organization will continue its focus on student and workplace safety to foster a healthy and positive environment for all. Prospective members should expect The Cavaliers' policies, procedures, and trainings surrounding all facets of this important topic to be integrated into their experience throughout the season.

“Our expectation for membership has climbed well above one’s ability to perform at the highest level,” said Lugo. “We continue to demand more from our members regarding mutual care and respect, personal accountability, and professionalism, because developing passionate leaders is what this experience is truly about.”

VOLUNTEER CHALLENGE

Recognizing the servant leadership of founder Don Warren and the organization's rich history of volunteerism, The Cavaliers are challenging each prospective and returning member to invest five (5) hours of volunteer service in their community before attending the Audition Experience events.

“We work to attract developing leaders to The Cavaliers each year,” Lugo added. “This simple volunteer challenge asks our pool of new and returning auditionees to not only prepare for the audition, but to take some time to give back to their community in whatever way is appropriate for them.”
