The Backyard Brawl Gets Physical in 2026

For years, The Cavaliers and Phantom Regiment have battled it out online every April to see who can raise the most money for their corps. It’s been friendly. It’s been competitive. It’s been… mostly civil.

But in 2026, we’ve decided to settle this the old fashioned way.

This year’s Backyard Brawl will feature a one-night, winner-take-all BOXING MATCH between the largest age-out from Phantom Regiment and the largest age-out from The Cavaliers.

No keyboards.
No donation thermometers.
Just gloves, pride, and approximately 200 years of combined marching arts trauma.

We’re currently scouting the two biggest humans each corps has ever put on a field. Preliminary weigh-ins suggest this may require reinforced ropes and a structurally certified ring.

Tentative rules include:
• 3 rounds
• 2 minutes each
• Brass knuckles strictly prohibited (contra mouthpieces still under review)
• Winner gets bragging rights and the losing corps has to push the truck all the way to Indy

We’re also excited to announce that FloMarching has signed on to broadcast the event live, making this the first pay-per-view marching arts fundraising boxing match in history.

Additional undercard events are still being finalized, including a rumored drum major baton duel and a color guard rifle toss distance competition.

Training begins immediately.

Backyard Brawl 2026. This time… it’s personal.

Happy April Fools.
