Ryan Malburg

Ryan Malburg is currently the Director of Bands at L’Anse Creuse High School. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Michigan State University, where he studied Euphonium with Philip Sinder. During his time at MSU, Ryan performed with the Spartan Marching Band, serving as the Baritone Section Leader and Band Vice President. He also participated in all three of the university’s concert ensembles, including the prestigious MSU Wind Symphony under the direction of Dr. Kevin Sedatole.

Under Ryan’s direction, the L’Anse Creuse Band Program has achieved consistent success and reached new heights. The Marching Lancers have placed in the top four at MCBA State Finals every year, earning 3rd place in both 2023 and 2024, and winning the Outstanding Percussion caption in 2024. They also competed in the BOA Toledo Regional in 2024, making finals for the first time in program history. The program has also maintained a strong Winter Guard program, with the Varsity Winter Guard earning the MCGC State Championship in 2022 and consistently qualifying for state finals. Later this year, the L’Anse Creuse Wind Symphony will perform at the Western Michigan University Spring Conference on Wind and Percussion Music in 2026.

Ryan has been heavily involved in the drum corps activity in multiple roles. He served as a brass instructor with the Legends Drum & Bugle Corps and worked as a tour assistant with The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. Ryan is a proud alumnus of The Cavaliers, having marched three summers on Baritone and served as Horn Sergeant in 2019. He is very honored to be returning to his home corps in an educational staff capacity!
