A native of Binghamton, New York, Mason discovered his passion for the marching arts while performing for four years with the Spectrum Drum and Bugle Corps from Corning/Owego, New York. He subsequently performed as a member of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps from Rockford, Illinois, from 1999-2002 and was asked to serve the corps as a member of the brass staff beginning in 2005, a role that he maintained on and off for 13 seasons. While marching with the Regiment, he attended Ithaca College and earned music performance and education degrees. Upon graduation from college, he toured North America and Japan with the Tony Award-Winning Broadway show Blast!

As a music educator, Mason’s teaching journey began in upstate New York. He later relocated to Texas to teach middle and high school band. His experience includes three years at Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas, and most recently as Associate Director of Bands at Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio from 2015 to 2021. During his time at Reagan, Mason assisted with all aspects of the program and began designing the drill for the Reagan Marching Band in 2018.

Since then, his drill designs have proved successful for Reagan High School and many other programs at local, state, and national performances, including the Texas State University Interscholastic League Marching Contest, Bands of America Regional, Super Regional, and Grand National Championships, and the Nationally televised Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

He resides in Schwedelbach, Germany, where he happily supports his wife, Jennifer, a Bandsman in the United States Air Forces in Europe Band stationed at Ramstein Air Base.
