Barbara Bolender is the chief people officer for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). The LVCVA is the destination marketing organization for Las Vegas and Southern Nevada, and its mission centers on attracting visitors by promoting the destination as the world’s most desirable destination for leisure and business travel. The LVCVA also owns and operates the Las Vegas Convention Center.
In her role, Ms. Bolender is directly responsible for overseeing the People and Possibilities operations of the LVCVA, including the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Ms. Bolender joined the LVCVA in 2016. Prior to joining the LVCVA, she served as vice president, legal affairs-labor relations & assistant general counsel for Boyd Gaming. She has also held positions as a human resources director at both corporate and property levels for large casino/hotel companies.
Ms. Bolender holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northern Kentucky University, as well as a juris doctor from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. She also earned a master of business administration degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ms. Bolender is a member of the National Public Employer Relations Association (NVPELRA), Nevada Society for Human Resource Management (NVSHRM), International Public Management Association (IPMA), and the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce.
