Alan Chez
Alan Chez is a trumpet player, clinician, and public speaker based in New Jersey. He was the Trumpet player on The Late Show with David Letterman - CBS for 17 years, and did numerous performances on Late Night with David Letterman – NBC . He is the second longest network TV trumpet player in history, second only to the great DOC Severinsen. The two trumpeters share the same birthday.
Chez has played with such artists as Bon Jovi , The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Tower of Power, Robert Cray Band, Spyro Gyra, Stevie Wonder, Sting, Eric Clapton, Cee Lo Green, Snoop Dogg, Flava Flav, James Brown, Bruce Springsteen, Earth Wind and Fire, and others.
Alan has performed at several Presidential Inaugurations, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions and Rock Hall DVD collection, John Lennon's 50th birthday celebration in Tokyo Japan, the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games Closing Ceremonies, the Concert of the Century at the White House, the Concert for New York, and the Very Special Christmas Concert.
Chez is devoting his time these days to his a Passion "Al Chez and The Brothers of Funk Big Band," a big band playing rock and soul music with big horn sound.
Chez started his extensive music career at the age of 9, starting out as a soprano player in The Saints drum and bugle corps from Woodbridge, NJ. He has continued his passion for the marching arts as brass instructor, drill instructor, and designer with the DCI World Champion Cadets, The Jersey Surf, and Canada’s Oakland Crusaders. He’s also worked with the Crossmen from San Antonio Texas, DCA champions Empire Statesmen, DCA champion Reading Buccaneers, DCA champions The Bushwackers. DCA finalists Fusin Core, and Canada’s Kingston Grenadiers.
Alan also works at the music departments at The school of the Arts n Philadelphia PA, The University of Virginia, and John P. Stevens HS in Edison, NJ.
Alan was born in Jersey City on July 7. He and his wife, two dogs, 16 ducks , and two cats, continue to live in the great state of New Jersey.
