Cavaliers Open Nominations For 2020 Awards
(ROSEMONT, Ill.) — The Cavaliers are looking to honor worthy candidates to be named an Honorary Cavalier and to receive the Adolph DeGrauwe Legacy Award for our upcoming event on Saturday, December 5th.
The Adolph DeGrauwe Legacy Award is presented to Cavalier Alumni who have dedicated years of service and left a legacy of changing the organization for the better. Anyone associated with The Cavaliers can nominate an individual for the DeGrauwe Legacy Award. The Board of Directors will consider nominated candidates for the award.
The Honorary Cavalier award is presented to individuals who have given continuously and generously of their time and dedication over many years (10+ years), but never marched in The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. Anyone associated with The Cavaliers can nominate an individual for Honorary Status. The Board of Directors will consider nominated candidates for the award.
Our most recent additions were awarded during the Summer Send-Off event at the Rosemont Theatre in 2019. Don Heitzman, Scott Rhebergen, and Sal Ferrara were the recipients for the DeGrauwe Legacy Award while Rosemont Mayor Brad A. Stephens and Dennis Doud were added to our distinguished list of Honorary Cavaliers. The Cavaliers were founded in 1948 from Boy Scout Troop 111 by the late Don Warren. One of the most successful drum and bugle corps in history, The Cavaliers have won 20 national championships, including seven Drum Corps International world championships, since 1992.
The Cavaliers provide a variety of life-changing educational and performance programs for young people that go beyond music and performing arts to build personal accountability, excellence, teamwork and camaraderie. Programs include GearWORKS, Chromium Winds, and Crystal Lake Thunder.
