Midwest Connection Takes On SoundSport in 2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(ROSEMONT, ILLINOIS) – Midwest Connection, the community drum corps project presented by The Cavaliers, is proud to announce its participation in the SoundSport International Music & Food Festival in Indianapolis, IN.
Midwest Connection (MC) officially launched in 2017 to engage the local community of drum corps alumni and enthusiasts through a fun, challenging, and low-cost experience that builds on the area's rich drum corps history and the organization's award-winning family of programs and ensembles.
For the summer of 2018, MC is adding to its performance repertoire with an exciting step into the world of SoundSport, a growing program of Drum Corps International.
On Saturday, August 11th, Midwest Connection will perform in exhibition at the SoundSport International Music & Food Festival, adding to The Cavaliers’ focus in Indianapolis the week of DCI World Championships.
“Midwest Connection is taking another positive step forward in 2018,” said Executive Director Chris Lugo. “While SoundSport had been discussed internally here at The Cavaliers many times before, we felt this opportunity to connect MC and SoundSport was right for this community drum corps project this summer.”
After notching several local performances in the Chicagoland area over this past year, Midwest Connection’s leadership is using this SoundSport event to serve as the major performance opportunity for the ensemble’s upcoming Summer Session.
“We’re preparing some great music for our summer performances and this 2018 SoundSport debut,” said Director Bob Rada. “It’s going to be downright fun to play in front of a drum corps audience and to add to the DCI World Championship festivities down in Indianapolis.”
