IN FOCUS: The Green Machine Awakens
With the return of drum corps comes the return of The Cavaliers’ IN FOCUS blog. My name is Oliver McKenna and I am so excited to be be sharing with you all photos from this season. I will be sharing this blog with our other photographer, so be on the lookout for content from both of us!
This first week of photos will focus on the start of the Corps members’ summer as they move into Herscher High School in Herscher, IL to prepare for a pair of performances on the Fourth of July in Niles, IL and Winnetka, IL. Following their busy Fourth of July, the Corps moved into their new home at Adrian College as they begin putting their show, LIVE! From The Rose, on the field.
ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Oliver McKenna is from Spokane, Wash. and earned an education through Washington State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in Strategic Communication with a major in public relations. While studying at Washington State, he worked for the student newspaper, The Daily Evergreen, serving as a photographer, assistant and head photo editor and web editor. During his time at the paper, he photographed several sporting events, including the 2018 Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.
In 2019, Oliver served as the photography intern for Drum Corps International, getting the opportunity to travel to and photograph several drum corps shows across the country.
For the 2021 summer season, Oliver will serve as the photographer for The Cavaliers.

About The Cavaliers
The Cavaliers were founded in 1948 from Boy Scout Troop 111 by the late Don Warren. One of the most successful drum and bugle corps in history, The Cavaliers have won 20 national championships, including seven Drum Corps International world championships, since 1992.
The Cavaliers provide a variety of life-changing educational and performance programs for young people that go beyond music and performing arts to build personal accountability, excellence, teamwork and camaraderie. Programs include GearWORKS, Cavaliers Indoor Percussion, Chromium Winds, Crystal Lake Thunder and Midwest Connection.
