Build the Lead; DCI Giving Challenge
ONE MILLION DOLLARS! That is the number that will be surpassed this year during the DCI Giving Challenge through the collective efforts of the Drum Corps and SoundSport participants. An amazing $800,000 has already been raised in the first two years of this exciting fundraising campaign and the goal is to raise $500,000 this year alone! The Challenge begins Thursday, July 20th and goes through Saturday, July 29th – with the winner announced during the FloMarching telecast of the July 30th Tour of Champions - NightBEAT show.
The Cavaliers have been leading the way during the first two years of this campaign and last year our wonderful alumni, family members, and fans donated $68,000 in our 68th year of existence as we defeated the competition and brought in the most donations of all the corps.
While this is, of course, a friendly competition, and everyone wins in the end, you also know that The Cavaliers love to be winners - so, we just had to set a goal of $69,000 for this year!
All your donations will go toward:
- Food (70,000 individual servings per year!)
- Fuel and Vehicle Rental costs (10,000 miles our dozen vehicles will drive this summer)
- Instructional fees for our world class teachers and designers
- Medical support for the members from a team of dedicated doctors and nurses
- Our Uniforms, Instruments, and Equipment, and much, Much MORE!
During this campaign, you will see on our Facebook pages that we will be challenging our ALUMNI against our FAMILIES AND FANS, we’ll be challenging our ALUMNI BRASS PLAYERS against our ALUMNI PERCUSSION AND GUARD, we’ll be challenging ALUMNI from the 40s – 70s against ALUMNI from the 80s – today. These will be fun efforts with BRAGGING RIGHTS at stake.
We also have a number of very generous and loyal donors who will be challenging our alumni, families, and fans with “matching gifts” that will only be made if you all respond in kind. As a start, the Board of Directors of The Cavaliers will match the first $5,000 in donations if they are made during the first day of the DCI Giving Challenge on July 20th.
You can CREATE YOUR OWN MINI-CHALLENGES by getting your friends and family to join you and match your gift. Or, if you’re an alumni or family member, you can challenge all the snare drummers or all the baritones, or all the rifles to make donations and beat each other!
Please go to give.cavaliers.org/challenge and consider a donation of:
$25 / $69 / $100 / $250 / $500 / $1000 / $2,500
This is the last major fundraising effort of the year for The Cavaliers and every donation and every dollar is very, very important. Help us finish 2017 strong as we prepare for our 70th anniversary in 2018.
Thanks so much in advance. You all are amazing friends and supporters of The Cavaliers!
