Cavaliers Launch Bruno Zuccala Scholarship Fund

Over the course of our history, there have been many great and selfless individuals who have positively shaped The Cavaliers and the experience we provide for our members. From educators and designers, to administrators, volunteers, alumni, and parents, this organization continues to thrive today because of the countless people who have invested their hearts and souls in the delivery of our mission.

Drum Corps International (DCI) Hall of Fame member Bruno Zuccala is part of the fabric of Cavalier history, having served as color guard caption head, staff coordinator, assistant director, and corps director over an incredible span of 27 years. Not only did Bruno hold the organization to high standards of excellence, his commitment to developing our educational teams and our students during his tenure can still be felt today here in Rosemont.

For 2018, The Cavaliers are proud to launch the Bruno Zuccala Scholarship Fund to help facilitate the Cavalier Experience for student members of the Color Guard.

Over the years, Bruno played a large role in helping connect members with alumni and supporters who in turn helped make the Cavalier Experience possible. It was an understanding that the support today would help develop those young performers into tomorrow’s teachers and leaders.

"I am honored that The Cavaliers organization established this scholarship to build on the Cavaliers Color Guard’s legacy of excellence and to provide young men with the opportunity to grow and develop,” said Bruno Zuccala.

“Those who benefited from The Cavaliers, drum corps, or the color guard activity have responsibility to pay it forward, and I’m proud that this scholarship fund will serve as a reminder that individual supporters can have a positive impact on tomorrow’s leaders."

To date, The Cavaliers have awarded $5,000 in scholarships via the Bruno Zuccala Scholarship Fund, including 2018 color guard sergeants Noah Bowers and Hunter McDaniel, as well as Evan Kearney, Akoni Pasoquen-Castillo, Austin Price, Adam Ray, Seth Sharpe, Will Snow, and Dylan Watson.

"What a fantastic opportunity to support the Cavaliers Color Guard members and to honor Bruno, who was simply integral to the success of the guard and the organization for decades,” said caption manager Travis Speice.

“The establishment of this scholarship fund will help ensure the future success of some of the activity’s finest performers, and we’re asking you to please consider contributing to bring the Cavalier dream to life!"

Currently, The Cavaliers are in the final round of 2018 scholarships before turning our focus to 2019, and we ask that you consider a tax-deductible contribution to the Bruno Zuccala Scholarship Fund to honor his legacy of excellence and to help make the Cavalier experience possible.
