Announcing the 2023 Visual Design Team
The Cavaliers welcome four Drum Corps International design veterans for our 75th season
In 2023, The Cavaliers welcome a class of Drum Corps International designers with rich world-class experience and a fresh, current perspective. The 2023 design team includes:
Jeremy Hunt: Visual Designer
John Leonard: Color Guard Caption Supervisor
Markell Allen: Color Guard Designer and Choreographer
“I’m honored to join the Cavaliers as visual designer” says Jeremy Hunt. “Honestly, it’s a dream come true.” Hunt’s drill writing experience includes five Drum Corps International finalist shows, in addition to numerous BOA championship and WGI medaling works. He has written drill for the Phantom Regiment, Spirit of Atlanta, and the Colts, and served as visual instructional staff for Carolina Crown, The Glassmen, and The Madison Scouts. His drill writing for Leander High School contributed to their BOA class AAA National Championships in 2019 and 2016, and since 2008, he’s written for twelve UIL (Texas) State Finalist bands along with 16 state championship bands throughout the country. John Leonard has been a teacher and choreographer for over 25 years. He is a former marching member of The Cavaliers, and has since worked with distinguished organizations including The Phantom Regiment, Santa Clara Vanguard, and The Crossmen, along with First Flight Winter Guard, North Carolina State University, and Arizona State University. “With Starnes, Saucedo, and McIntosh in place, I was immediately interested when I received the call” notes Leonard. “As an alumni, I am thrilled to join The Cavaliers and play a small part in this incredible organization which helped shape who I am today.” Leonard adds “I am looking forward to getting started with this team and putting something special together for the 75th anniversary season.” Click Here for full biography
Markell Allen joins The Cavaliers after having instructed various South Carolina and Indianapolis high school and independent groups, as well as Legends Drum and Bugle Corps. He participated in Carolina Crown, The Boston Crusaders, and Pride of Cincinnati, and he now designs and choreographs for groups from the Gulf Coast to the East Coast and the Midwest. Currently, he works with the Greenwood Irish Guard, the Marching Woodmen in Indiana, the Dance Sophisticates in Indianapolis, and the Pride of Cincinnati. Click Here for full biography
