LORENE HINES
2025 Honorary Cavalier

Nominated By: Adolph DeGrauwe and Chris Hartowicz
The purpose of the Honorary Cavalier Award is to recognize the incredible contributions of team members and volunteers who were not marching members of The Cavaliers—but whose efforts have been vital to the corps.

Lorene Hines joined The Cavaliers in 2000 as a CDL truck driver on the transportation team. With the exception of a short break, she has been an integral part of moving the corps for the past 25 years.

It is often the behind-the-scenes contributors—those doing the thankless but essential jobs—who make the Green Machine run. Driving a tractor with a 53-foot kitchen trailer is no small responsibility. If that truck doesn’t arrive on time, the corps doesn’t eat.

Lorene takes that responsibility to heart. After driving all night, she can still be found helping to set up the kitchen, hoses, and staging for the cooks before the rest of the organization wakes up. She consistently volunteers for other duties and ensures the fleet reflects the professionalism of the organization.

In addition to these efforts, Lorene handles all of the driver documentation and regulatory requirements necessary to keep The Cavaliers safe and compliant on tour. This is a massive, detail-driven responsibility that she has mastered. Lorene even secured a CAPE sponsorship agreement with a company that provides software and equipment to modernize and streamline this task—at a significant discount to the organization.

Congratulations to Lorene for earning the title of Honorary Cavalier!
