ANN MILLER
2025 Honorary Cavalier

Nominated By: Dr. Michael Vaughn
It is with great pleasure and deep gratitude that I submit this nomination for Ann Miller for Honorary Cavalier. In her time with The Cavaliers organization, Ann has proven to be one of our most loyal, selfless, and dedicated supporters—giving generously of her time, energy, and financial resources. She has truly become a vital part of the Green Machine.

Ann first became involved with The Cavaliers in 2015 when her son, Andrew, was a marching member. Quickly embracing the spirit of the organization, Ann began volunteering on the cook crew, attending winter camps and dedicating several weeks each summer to the demanding work of feeding the corps. The long, hot, and exhausting days on the cook truck never deterred her—she consistently approached each day with enthusiasm, tireless energy, and deep care for the members. Even after her son aged out, Ann continued to volunteer—The Cavaliers had become her extended family.

In 2018, early in the season, the corps unexpectedly lost its lead cook. Without hesitation, Ann stepped forward to lead the operation—despite never having managed the kitchen before. She took extra time away from her own business to remain with the corps through the remainder of the summer, playing a critical role in the corps’ success that year. Again in 2019, Ann took on the role of lead cook—once more from move-ins in May through DCI Finals in August—and from that point on, she became a fixture in what she fondly refers to as “her truck.”

What is truly remarkable is that Ann has never been compensated for this work. On the contrary, she has consistently volunteered at great personal expense, leaving her own business behind for weeks at a time to care for the corps. Over a decade since first coming to The Cavaliers, she continues to serve with the same passion and anticipation for each new season.

Beyond her service on tour, Ann has been an extraordinary benefactor to the corps. Through her business, Glitz Nashville, she has established scholarships and made personal donations to help many young men achieve their dream of marching with The Cavaliers. Her generosity has directly impacted the lives of numerous students, easing their financial burdens and opening doors to life-changing experiences.

More recently, Ann joined the CAPE Board of Directors, where her business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit bring new strength to the organization. She is a passionate advocate for The Cavaliers and CAPE, driven by her deep belief in the mission and the transformative effect the corps had on her own son. She continues to be one of our most vocal champions in the broader community.

Yet, when I think of Ann’s contributions, what resonates most is the love and care she brings to the members. At every meal, she greets them with a smile, a kind word, or a hug. She is a comforting presence to those who are homesick, a listening ear for those in need, and a constant source of positivity and encouragement. For so many young men, she is a second mother—and her nurturing presence has done more to uplift morale and foster the spirit of brotherhood than words can convey.

Ann embodies the spirit of servant leadership and family that defines The Cavaliers. I can think of no more fitting way to honor her years of selfless service, generosity, and love than by naming Ann Miller as an Honorary Cavalier.
