CRAIG RASIN
2026 AD Legacy Award Winner

Nominated by Stan Boduch and Don Heitzman
Craig and his brother Don came up from southern Illinois after having marched in the Belleville Black Knights. Both were immediately ‘all in’ as Cavaliers. Don stayed down in southern Illinois and Craig moved to the Chicago area after graduating from the University of Illinois. Craig moved to the rifle line and, after aging out, he continued as a volunteer in several capacities on the equipment staff and on the Admin team with Dana Heeres and Bob Jackson. He also helped to instruct the color guard and became a fixture during the late 1970’s both with the corps guard and with the growing Cavaliers winter comp guard programs, where he met his wife, Lisa, who had marched with the Corsairs of Des Plaines, Il. Craig was a valuable part of the staff of The Cavalier’s winter guard that won WGI Championships in 1981-1982-1983. Craig served on the Board of Directors for an extended number of years, providing thoughtful contributions and wisdom to the Board’s discussions and decisions. He became a valued volunteer for CPI, working behind the scenes to allow it to become a major contribution to the organization’s income.

Craig made a major impact running the corps home shows in Illinois, Michigan City, IN and also in Denton, TX. His attention to detail, ability to secure volunteers and his calm demeanor were key in transitioning those events from local events to major fundraisers for the corps and significant draws on the DCI calendar, favored stops by the top competitors in the activity.

In summary Craig’s contributions to the Cavaliers took place over a long period of time and in a variety of capacities. Craig Rasin is truly a Cavalier in the model of Adolph DeGrauwe, leading by positive example, a spirit of volunteerism, and a collective legacy of tangible contributions and change to the betterment of The Cavaliers!
