Tim Sexton is an active advocate for positive and energetic music education, both in the classroom and in the marching arts. A native of Hokes Bluff, AL, Tim is currently a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Boise State University. While in Boise, Mr. Sexton assists Dr. Joseph Tornello with the Blue Thunder Marching Band and All-Campus Concert Band, maintains a private studio, educationally consults for Centennial High School, and is completing an M.M. in Music Performance. He privately studies trumpet with Dr. Derek Ganong and wind conducting with Professor Marcellus Brown.
As a performer, Tim has been able to travel internationally as a cast member with Blast! Brass Theater. He was able to tour with this Tony & Emmy award-winning ensemble throughout all prefectures of Japan in 2014. Thereafter, Mr. Sexton served as the Band Director at Red Bud Middle and Sonoraville High Schools located in Calhoun, GA from 2015 to 2017. Currently, Tim actively provides in-person and virtual clinics for marching and concert ensembles across the country based upon director desires and program needs, having detailed the ideals of "Visual & Movement for Winds" and "Tone & Contrast within Articulations".
Mr. Sexton has proudly been affiliated with instructing successful groups within the pageantry arts across the United States since 2010. During his summer experiences, Tim tours as a brass instructor with The Cavaliers drum & bugle corps of Rosemont, Illinois. He previously taught on visual staff with the Madison Scouts of Madison, WI from 2013-2016 and Crossmen of San Antonio, TX in 2017. During the winter seasons, Tim has been fortunate to teach competitive WGI Winds groups since their inaugural season. He worked with Ola Winds of McDonough, GA for the 2015 and 2016 seasons and has been an educational consultant with Point University of West Point, GA since 2016. Mr. Sexton is currently the Director and Co-Founder for Armada Winds, a newly founded WGI Winds ensemble based out of Boise, Idaho.
Tim currently resides in Boise, ID as an active freelance educator and musician. He holds a B.A. in Music Education with a focus on instrumental pedagogy from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL. He privately studied trumpet with Dr. John C. Merriman and wind conducting with Dr. Jeremy Stovall.
