Scott Simon is an active performer/educator in the Chicagoland area. He is a part of the band instructional staff at Prospect High School, and Niles West High School.
At an early age, Scott began his career with Drum Corps International, marching eight years with Phantom Legion, Blue Stars, and Phantom Regiment. During that time, he was awarded Division III champions (2001), two Division III high percussion awards (1999, 2001), and first place at DCI I&E for individual tenors (2002). After graduating he was a staff member with Phantom Regiment from 2007 – 2010, where the corps was awarded DCI champions in 2008 and high percussion in 2008 and 2010. He then taught with Santa Clara Vanguard in 2011 and 2017.
On the performance side, Scott is active in the Chicagoland’s musical theater scene and has been a part of pit orchestras for several companies such as Bailiwick, Kokandy, and Theo Ubique. Most recently, he has performed with Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Paramount Theatre, and Marriot Theatre. He was a member of the Chicago Bulls Stampede Drumline from 2012 – 2016 where three of those years he served as co-director. You can also hear him with his electronic rock duo Low Swans where he plays drum set and vintage synth sounds with his MalletKat.
Scott received his BM in Music from Illinois State University and his MM from Central Michigan University.
