Nicholas Gasemy was raised in Frederick, Maryland where he currently resides. He received his degree in Music Education from West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. While attending WVU, he was a member of The Pride of West Virginia Mountaineer Marching Band, the Basketball Pep Band, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Horn Choir, Chamber Winds, and a Brass Quintet. During his four years performing with The Pride of West Virginia, he held the positions of Mellophone Section Leader and Brass Rank Leader and was awarded both the Most Outstanding Section Leader Award and the Most Outstanding Rank Leader Award. He studied Horn with Dr. Virginia Thompson, Jennifer Presar, and Robert Lauver.
Nicholas performed for seven years within Drum Corps International as a mellophone player. He marched with the Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps from 2010 through 2013 and The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from 2014 through his age-out in 2016.
After his age-out season, Nicholas returned to his hometown in Maryland and began working with the Governor Thomas Johnson High School Band. During his time working with the program, the band has received numerous awards. The Marching Band took home fifth place in the USBands Group IV Open National Championships in the 2016 season. He also worked with the school's Indoor Percussion group, which went on to place third in their class at KIDA Championships.
The 2018 season will be Nicholas' second year on the Visual Staff and his fifth year with The Cavaliers. He is very excited to see what lies ahead in this upcoming season.
