In 1955, my first experience in Drum Corps was with Mel Tierney, American Legion Post #247, Park Ridge, IL. (Mel Tierney moved posts to Skokie, IL and became Skokie Vanguard. Story - how I met my wife.) The fall of 1956, I made the long climb up the stairs above Ferrera’s to audition and join The Chicago Cavaliers. Ageing out at the end of 1960, I spent the winter working with the Baritone line of our 1961 undefeated season!
After that final season, I became a full-time student and full-time worker by working as a night auditor and going to college days. In Spring of 1961, I married a Skokie Vanguard. Life followed; promotions and transfers in Hotel Industry, children and finally earned my degree at University of Central Florida, Orlando
Hobbies are Drum Corps, Gardening, Grandkids, and Chicago Sports. My biggest inspiration comes from my three children, my four amazing grandchildren and their awesome accomplishments – they never cease to amaze me.
My most rewarding memories from marching with The Cavaliers was winning our First VFW National Championship in 1957, the whole amazing year of CAC888, and Classic Cavaliers. Now I am looking forward and excited about Midwest Connection’s potential for our first season.
My biggest influences come from Donald W. Warren and the entire brotherhood I have known and marched with throughout the years since 1956 as a member of The Cavaliers Organization.
