Jeremy Stevens is currently the Director of Bands at Hillsboro Schools in Hillsboro, IL, where he is responsible for all instrumental music students from 5th through 12th grade. In addition to his work at his own high school, junior high school, and two elementary schools, he is active in the Illinois and Michigan marching arts communities, building strong brass and visual programs at several high school marching bands and serving as an adjudicator for competitions.
He is a native of Peru, IL, and graduated from LaSalle-Peru Township High School. He went on to Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI, where he received his undergraduate degree in music education. While at WMU, he served as drum major for the 300-member Bronco Marching Band and performed in the Symphonic Band under the direction of Dr. Scott Boerma. Professor Scott Thornburg and Dr. Stephen Jones were his primary trumpet teachers at WMU.
Jeremy is also a former member of The Cavaliers, and is excited for his sixth consecutive year with the corps and third on the brass staff. In addition to his work with the drum corps, Jeremy is the music caption head of Chromium Winds, the 2017 WGI Indoor Winds Independent Open Class gold medalist and Cavaliers-affiliate WGI Winds ensemble. His professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, the Illinois Music Education Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Pi Kappa Lambda.
