Jeremy Stevens is currently the Director of Bands at Hillsboro Community Unit School District No. 3 in Hillsboro, IL. There, he is responsible for all instrumental music students from 5th through 12th grade, including beginner lessons, two marching bands, pep band, and three concert bands. In addition to his work at his own schools, he is active in the Michigan and Illinois marching arts communities, building strong brass and visual programs in several high school marching bands and serving as an adjudicator for competitions. He also continues to play trumpet in various ensembles in southern Illinois.
He is from of Peru, IL, and graduated from LaSalle-Peru Township High School. He went on to Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI, where he received his undergraduate degree in music education. While at WMU, he served as drum major for the 300-member Bronco Marching Band and performed in the Symphonic Band under the direction of Dr. Scott Boerma. Professor Scott Thornburg and Dr. Stephen Jones were his primary trumpet teachers at WMU.
Jeremy is also a former member of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, and the 2019 season will be his seventh consecutive year with the corps and fourth on the brass educational staff. 2019 will also mark his second season as the music caption head of Chromium Winds, the 2017 and 2018 WGI Indoor Winds Independent Open Class gold medalist and Cavaliers-affiliate WGI Winds ensemble. His professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, the Illinois Music Education Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Pi Kappa Lambda.
