CJ McCrory comes from the small town of Collierville, Tennessee, located east of the city of Memphis. After four years of marching with the Collierville Dragon Band as a mellophone and drum major, CJ continued his marching career into the summer with DCI. His first two years were spent in open class, with the 2009 Memphis Sound and the 2010 Forte D&BC, both years of which he served as drum major. In 2011, he was offered a contract in the Cavaliers Color Guard, and marched the following summer of 2012 and his age out in 2013. Along with his outdoor marching experience, CJ is grateful to have been cast two WGI competing groups, such as Eklipse 2012, and the Pride of Cincinnati 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Currently residing in Lexington, Kentucky, CJ continues his involvement in the color guard activity as a visual designer at Paul Laurence Dunbar HS. He has also had the privilege to serve as a technician with successful medalist programs Lexis Winterguard and Carolina Crown, and choreograph for local Kentucky high schools such as Henry Clay HS, South Oldham HS and Beaumont MS. As an alumni, CJ is very excited to return home to the Green Machine for his second summer on staff and rejoin an excellent team of educators for the 2017 season.
